e-Pain is a multidisciplinary e-learning programme developed jointly by the Faculty of Pain Medicine of the Royal College of Anaesthetists and the British Pain Society. The programme is designed to improve the knowledge, skills and attitudes of all NHS staff dealing with patients who have acute or chronic pain. Module 1 of e-Pain provides an overview and introduction for non-specialists to the topic of Pain Management. |
Target Staff Group |
The target audience for e-PAIN is a broad audience of 'healthcare professionals'. This includes doctors but also encompasses nurses, physiotherapists, psychologists, pharmacists and any other healthcare professionals who may become involved in pain management. |

By the end of this course you will be able to: Define acute and chronic pain Differentiate between neuropathic and nociceptive pain Identify the psychological factors involved in pain Choose the appropriate assessment tool to measure pain Identify appropriate analgesia for different severities of pain Recognize contraindications to medications given for pain |
