To give staff the confidence and principles to safely hold and/or restrict a client, acting as part of a team, enabling them to manage situations to prevent injury to clients and those around them

Update: DMI Foundation Physical Intervention 5 Day Initial Course
Objectives
HASAW Act 1974, risk assessment, national guidelines, e.g. NICE and NHS Protect, ethics, duty of care, statute law, e.g. MHA, criminal and common law, physiology and anatomy, defining violence, aggression and challenging behaviour. A wide range of holding principles including seated, standing, prone and supine positions and disengagement principles. This course includes PSTS, Basic Life Support and Rapid Tranquilisation training

Refresher Period
Initial course on appointment followed by an annual update. Please note if your DMI compliance expires without a refresher you will be require to attend the 5 day course again.
